Collection: Ropes & Rope Bags

The Sterling C IV is a good beginner canyoning rope with a good price point.  Designed specifically for the rigors of canyoneering, this ultra-strong, low-stretch rope is crafted to withstand wet environments and rapid descents
  • HIGH STRENGTH TO WEIGHT RATIO: minimum breaking strength of 4,663 pounds/20.7 kN and a low elongation at 2.0 percent per 300 pounds, this 21 x 8 x 5 inch static rope stays strong in extreme conditions
  • LIGHTWEIGHT AND COMPACT: Made with a resilient Technora exterior and lightweight polypropylene core, the 0.59-pound Sterling C-IV 9mm Rope can serve as adventure gear, rappel rope, lineman rope, and more
  • CUT AND ABRASION RESISTANT: The unique construction deflects heat and features a water absorbent braided sheath for superior power and damage resistance against vertical pulling, dragging, and descent

Canyon Extreme Blue Water is an amazing rope.  It is stronger which means it holds up longer, resists abrasions and core shots more effectively than the Sterling C IV.  It is lightweight even when wet.  It costs more money but it is worth every bit of the extra price tag.

  • Tensile Strength: 5,500 lbf. (24.4 kN)
  • Grams Per Meter: 41
  • Elongation: @ 300 lbf. = 1.3%
  • Elongation: @ 600 lbf. = 1.9%
  • Elongation: @ 1000 lbf. = 2.6%

You want your rope bags to  be lightweight and float so it floats in water.  Otherwise your rope and rope bag will sink to the bottom of the pothole or river.
