The Canyoning Institute (CI.org) is a grassroots, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to making canyoning education, training, and certification accessible and affordable to all enthusiasts. This organization operates on the principle that a passionate community can overcome financial barriers through innovative approaches to learning and collaboration.
## Key Initiatives
### Online Training and Scholarships
CI.org offers comprehensive online training programs that cover essential canyoning skills and knowledge. These digital resources serve as a foundation for aspiring canyoners, allowing them to learn at their own pace and from any location. To further enhance accessibility, the institute provides scholarships to deserving individuals who may face financial constraints, ensuring that economic factors do not hinder one's ability to pursue canyoning education.
### Standardization of Best Practices
The institute actively engages in collaborative efforts with experienced canyoners, guides, and industry experts to develop and standardize best practices in canyoning. This initiative aims to create a unified approach to safety, technique, and environmental stewardship within the canyoning community.
## Balancing Online and In-Person Learning
While CI.org recognizes the value of online training in making education more accessible, they strongly emphasize the irreplaceable importance of hands-on, in-person experience. The online courses are designed to complement and prepare students for real-world canyoning adventures, rather than replace them. This approach ensures that learners are well-prepared with theoretical knowledge before engaging in practical, on-site training with fellow canyoners.
## Community Engagement and Continuous Improvement
CI.org actively seeks feedback from course participants to continuously improve their offerings. Each course includes a dedicated feedback section, encouraging students to share their experiences, suggestions, and critiques. This open communication channel allows the institute to adapt and enhance its programs based on real user experiences and needs.
By combining affordable online resources, scholarships, standardized practices, and a strong emphasis on practical experience, The Canyoning Institute aims to create a more inclusive and knowledgeable canyoning community. Their approach not only makes the sport more accessible but also promotes safety and best practices among practitioners. Through these efforts, CI.org is working to make a lasting and meaningful impact on the canyoning community, fostering growth, safety, and passion for the sport.
Be a part of our mission to make education accessible to all by contributing to our cause today.

Professional: I work as an accountant at a local trucking company. I do nails on the side and I'm a UVU alumni with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and as Associate's Degree in Graphic Design. You could say I split my time between analysis and creativity.
Outdoor Fun & Quals: I grew up camping, dirt biking, and river rafting with my family, so I learned adventure at a young age. I got into canyoning as an adult and have since been working on getting certified through the Canyoning Institute.
Canyoning: First time was 2017 and I was hooked. But I didn't know where to go from there until 2020 when I found Canyoning Chicks. Since then, being in canyons with good people and learning new skills has become a great joy of mine!
Favorite Canyon: Cassidy Arch in Capitol Reef!
Canyon Nemesis: Dirty swimmer potholes
